          We believe in democracy and rule of law and so as a public servant and also as most visible face of Govt. we believe that Police is for service of people and Nation But we do expect some duties from the citizens of our State and Ranchi district.
          People should be law abiding and should have faith in Asdministration and democracy. There is a need to restrain our youths because they are the future of our country and we need discipline in our life everywhere.

VISION:- Ranchi being Capital City and District remains always under minute scrutiny of all and the People also have highest expectations from Ranchi Police. The outside Visitors to Jharkhand State also will formulate their opinion about Jharkhand Police and State will the first hand experience of Ranchi. So we have also formulated our vision for the best possible face of Police to be in Ranchi.
          The fore most thrust of our Policing is people friendly, Friendly behavior to the people, common man is for every rank highest rank to lowest Constabulary rank.
          Probity and Professionalism is also our priority in Policing. The Police should not only be efficient and pure professional in their original work but also honesty neutrality and transparency in day to day work has to be maintained.
          Ranchi being Capital city expanding both vertically and horizontally, so need of the day is we should also enhance the man power and Police Station unit commensurate to the population and expending area.
          Traffic Police which is the first face of Ranchi Police needs to strengthen and we need to have more Traffic Police Stations and more man power.
          We wish for the total eradication of all type of Naxal problem from Ranchi so that confidence of Investors, Industrialist will increase in Jharkhand and all around development will take place.

Brief Summary of the District

          Ranchi, Capital of Jharkhand is also called as city of waterfalls, lakes and Forest. Ranchi district is divided into Ranchi and Bundu administrative subdivisions and each subdivision is further divided into blocks, panchayats and villages with the population of 27.85 lakhs with 65% rural household. Among the total population, workers, cultivators agricultural labourers constitute more than 63% and with the overall literacy rate of around 53% Ranchi district is tribal dominated district with main tribes of munda and oran with the population share of more than 40%. It is also a mineral rich district of Jharkhand with Coal as the major mineral in Khelari region.
          Plicing in Ranchi district is head by Senior Superintendent of Police with SP(City), SP (Rural), SP (Traffic) and 4120 manpower including officers and men at all ranks. Ranchi district has 14 police stations and 04 OPs in city areaa and 22 PS and 02 OPs in rural areas. Naxalites are the biggest problem in Bundu Sub-division and some other parts of the district as well. Apart from these, organized criminal gangs do emerges one after another as the city grows fast. The main challenge before the Ranchi police is to contain the naxalite spread and tackle the problem and maintain the law and order in the district with people friendly face.
          Ranchi police has succeed in not only containing the naxalite problem from further spreading to non-naxal areas but also got several achievements against them and weakened the naxalite movements in this part of the region. Though the goal is not rully achieved we are committed ourselves to the task. This can be seen by seeing our success story of the several arrest, huge quantities of arms and ammunition recoveries, anti-naxal operation and encounters, intelligence collection and execution, surrender and rehabilitation of the members of the naxalite organizations. In the year 2010-11 more than 90 most wanted members CPI (Maoist) and other splinter groups have been arrested, 10 naxalite/criminals have been killed in the police encounters during operations and 10 most wanted naxalites have been surendered before the Ranchi Police.
          Several organized criminals in city and rural areas have been arrested with recovery of several arms and ammunitions and several cases have been solved. The crime in the city has been reduced substantially over the past two years. Several law and order problems incliding communal tention has been solve amicability with human face.
          Improvement in the traffic in the city has been one of our top priorities. In this direction several traffic singnals have been installed and training has been given to the traffic police. To create traffic awareness among the public traffic awareness week is organized every year and it is giving good results.
          People are important organ of the governance and government organization can succeed without the support of the public. To create a positive atmoshphare between the police and the public to tackle the law and order problem, particularly the naxalite menace, several community policing programs are being carried out in several villages especially most backward and interior areas. Several good have been distributed to the poorest of the poor and medical campl; foot ball tournaments have been organized.
         The biggest achievements of Ranchi Police this year are the successful completion of the Panchayat Election 2010 in free, fare and peaceful manner without even a single re-polling and National game- 2011.

Security Scenario

CRIME TRENDS SPECIALLY ORGANISED CRIME RURAL AREA

Rural area of Ranchi District has been infected by different Naxal Organisations and other Criminal activities. Areas of Tamar, Bundu, Sonahatu, Angarha, Sikidari Police Stations and Rahe O.P. have been widely affected by activities of CPI (Maoist) group till the end of year 2009. At the end of year 2010, The activities of of CPI (Maoist) group has been minimized up to almost Zero level. Continious Police action during year 2009-2010, resulted in killing / Arrest of many CPI (Maoist)Cadres alongwith recovery of huge quantity of Arms, Ammunitions, and explosives. During the year 2009-2010 7 CPI (Maoist) Terrorist were killed in Police encounter apart for from arrest of 80 terrorists. Recoveries made during the said period include can bomb 24 pieces (Approximately 818 kg), Motrar shell 05 pieces, Clomoromines 04 pieces ( Approximately 60 kg), Rifle 09 pieces, Gun 12 pieces, Carbine 04 pieces, Pistol 59 pieces, Ammuniation 325 pieces, Grenade 03 pieces, Explosive Booster 1527 pieces (Approximately 190.875 kg), Geletine Stick 659 pieces (Approximately 82.375 kg), Power gel 35 pieces (Approximately 122.5 kg), Detonater 65 pieces and Other Explosive items Approximately 100 kg. Pressure made due to Police actions also resulted in Surrender by 9 CPI (Maoist) terrorists including One Area Commander, One Platoon Commander and one 2nd Commander of Zonal head. At Present A group of CPI(Maoist) Naxal group is active in Arki . p.s. Area of neighbouring dist Khunti, which is headed by South Chhotanagpur Zone’s Commander Kundan Pahan and his associates like Ram Mohan Munda And Tulsi Das @ Vishal. Their Activities are required to be curbed in that area.
The 2nd Part of Rural area of Ranchi districts includes Police Station areas of Pithoria, Burmu, Khalari, Mcluskiganj, Chanho, Lapung, Bero, Itaki, Nagari. These area have been affected by activities of PLFI, CPI (Maoist) , TPC, Jharkhand Liberation Army, Jharkhand Tiger, Jharkhand Mukti Sangh and other criminal groups During the year 2010 Ranchi Police Got tremendous success against these Naxal/ Criminal Organisations. 3 hard core and most wanted terrorist were killed in police action. In addition, 14 members of PLFI, 28 members of TPC, 9 members of Jharkhand Mukti Sangh and 1 member of Jharkhand tiger were arrested . At Present Jharkhand Mukti Sangh, Jharkhand Liberation Army Organisation is almost dead. Activities of PLFI and TPC is also minimized but arrest of most wanted Jaynath Sahu and PLFI Supremo Dinesh Gope is till left .Bordering areas of Latehar Dist. With Chanho, Khalari, Mcluskigunj police Stations is continuously witnessing activities of CPI (Maoist) which is required to be curbed.
During the year 2010 members of Local Organised Criminal groups like JPC and other were also arrested. No. Of Crimes as Loot and Dacoity committed during the year 2010 have drastically decreased in compare to year 2009. NO. Oraganised Looter’s or Kidnapper’s group is active in district.
